On Saturday January 13 the national cross country champs took place. W.A.V. Tartlétos had the honour to organize this race and many Haasjes were present. In the morning ten Haasjes traveled to the Hoekelumse bos close to Ede. Running circumstances seemed to be alright, though it was kinda cold. There was no wind and the course was'nt muddy.
First the short cross country race started. The men and women each had to run 3200 meter over 2 laps. Marco, Thomas, Lars, and Arnout finished with a good result. The women were great. Margo dominated the race. Far behind her ran number 2. Behind the number 2 Rianne took third place on this tough course.
At the long cross country race Luuk, Ties, Kamiel, and Luc S. were competing. They had to run 3 laps in a 9 km race. This course was even tougher. Long parts of the course had to be climbed through loose sand. Luuk lead the race from the beginning and held this place till the finish line. Kamiel could follow for a long time, but he had to quit the race because of calf complaints. Ties ran a strong race (without spikes!) and he crossed the finish line in third position. Luc finished 4th.
After the race and the prizegivings with a lot of (red/white?) Haasjes on the stage it was time for a lunch in the canteen of AV Climaxtijd. The organization made a delicious lunch with soup and pancakes.
We can look back on an awesome and succesful day with terrific results!
