Some Hazen think 9 km cross country is not far enough. Therefore a group of five Hazen decided to join NSTV Trion and compete in the Egmond Half Marathon instead of going to Ede for the NSK Cross. Irene and Michelle took part in this race too. The race is known for the beach and the strond wind at the coast. In the half marathon participants have to cover 8km on the beach and in the quarter marathon 3km. Surprisingly, there was not much wind this year, but it was quite chilly.

Luc van Ginneken competed in the bike race on Saturday first. A long way there and then the same way back. Sunday he took part in the quarter marathon, as did Irene. A strenuous climb typified the place where participants had to exit the beach. Irene proved to be injury free and Luc earned his second medal this weekend.

Somewhat later Geke, Bas, Sebastiaan, Sander Groen in ’t Woud, and Michelle started. Geke did not run further than 7 km in a race before, but she surprised herself and everyone else by finishing in 1:43:33h.  She even took some time to rest at a water point drinking three glasses of water and eating a banana. While Geke was running still, Bas quit his race. All of a sudden he got a migraine attack and he went to bed early. Sebastiaan beated his fastest Egmond time. He improved his PB to 1:19:28h. He is in good shape apparently. However, his abs abandoned him after 45 minutes already. Time to gain some abs in the months to come. Sander also ran a tough race. He did not practice a lot lately. Nevertheless, he did a good job. Michelle had some physical issues during the race and she did not like the crowd on the course. She did an excellent job however and her race has been a great adventure.

To conclude this report a short note from every single Haasje in the Trion group the day after;
- Sander; My calfs and eye lids feel heavy. And my abs hurt a lot,
- Bas; Still got a headache, no sore muscles,
- Geke; Ouch.. Ouch... my quadriceps and buttocks. Climbing down a ladder is hell,
- Luc; A great deal of tension in my calfs and buttocks,
- Sebastiaan; I've got Tom Dumoulin's upper legs, the ass of Kim Kardashian, and the belly of Dafne. By the way, my hips feel like I've danced the salsa all night.

Well, you've read it, even after a night's rest these Haasjes are still enjoying the results of the race!

Please take a look at our other race and meet reports.
